TGIF! Here’s a list of our Concierge Team’s favorite events happening in Chicago this weekend.
Chicago South Asian Film Festival (Fri.-Sun., Sept. 20-22) See an array of films exploring South Asian issues and culture, including shorts, features and documentaries, at this festival.
World Music Festival (Fri.-Sun., Sept. 20-22) The festival closes Sunday with “One World Under One Roof,” an open house featuring nine groups at the Chicago Cultural Center. The grand finale will include performances throughout the building, kicking off in Randolph Square, and continuing in Preston Bradley Hall and the Claudia Cassidy Theater.
Joffrey Ballet: Russian Masters (Fri.-Sun., Sept. 20-22) This show is a tribute to some of Russia’s most respected composers, and celebrates the centennial of Vaslav Nijinsky’s famous ballet, Le Sacre du Printemps (The Rite of Spring).
Apple Fest (Sat., Sept. 21) a longstanding Lincoln Square tradition, this festival has anything an apple lover could ever want: apples by the bushel, candy apples, apple pie, apple cider, and even apple pizza.
Bob Odenkirk, David Cross and Brian Posehn (Sat., Sept. 21) This trio has written a book called Hollywood Said No!: Orphaned Film Scripts, Bastard Scenes, and Abandoned Darlings from the Creators of Mr. Show, and Chicago is one stop on their six-city standup/sketch comedy tour to promote it. A copy of the book comes with a ticket purchase.
